DESCRIPTION: Joan is in Thailand. She writes me fascinating letters and wants to know as much about watercolour as possible. This painting shows her enthusiasm. Well placed dark shapes define the flowers and avoid outlining. She has a very good combination of hard and soft edges. A bit more background colour bleeding off the page would help anchor the image.
